About Me

My journey to psychology was inspired by a desire to understand the impact of culture on mental health. I am interested in how our cultural backgrounds and identity shape thoughts and behavior. This passion led me to work with a diverse range of individuals, providing expert care that is culturally attuned, affirming, and evidence based. I believe that our culture shapes how we interpret and overcome or cope with our challenges, whether they involve emotional hardship, trauma, or other mental health struggles. In addition to my private practice, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. In this role, I supervise and teach advanced psychology doctoral students and psychiatry residents. I am also the Associate Director of the NYU Military Family Center where I provide short term probono individual and couples therapy to veterans and military family members.

Fees

My fee ranges from $320 - 375 per session for individual therapy. Please speak with me about sliding scale availability. My fee is based on doctoral-level psychologists with advanced and specialized training in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City. It reflects the value of my training and experience, helps sustain a practice in two states, and makes it possible for me to offer sliding scale options to those in need.

Insurance

I am an out of network provider which means I do not contract with insurance companies. You are responsible for paying the agreed upon fee at the time of service and I will provide a monthly superbill that you can use to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. You are responsible for determining if your plan provides out of network benefits or reimbursement for telehealth psychotherapy sessions.Questions you may consider asking your insurance provider:

  • Do I have out- of- network benefits? If yes, do I have a deductible?

  • After I have met my deductible, what percentage does insurance reimburse for an outpatient telehealth psychotherapy session?

  • Does insurance reimburse for the full fee or a portion?

  • Is approval required by a PCP?

  • Is there a limit of sessions per calendar year or is there a limit to the total amount reimbursed?

  • Common CPT codes used: 90791 (first evaluation or consultation appointment), 90832 (30 min session) and 90834 (45-minute session)

Prior to evaluation, prospective patients are given information regarding fees for services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Late Cancellation Policy

  • Requests for cancellation or rescheduling must be made 48 business hours in advance. For example, if your appointment is scheduled for Tuesday at 1pm, please cancel no later than 1pm the Friday before.

  • For any cancellations made within 48 business hours of your scheduled appointment, you are responsible for the full session fee. Please note, a charge for a no show or late cancellation session is not reimbursable by insurance.

  • Our appointments will end 45 min after the scheduled appointment time, even if you are late.

  • My late policy is in place because your appointment time is held exclusively for you. Due to my limited practice hours and demand for services, two business days allows my practice to continue supporting others.

  • Emergences and life happens! These issues are handled on a case-by-case basis so please reach out to discuss.
